Centenary Celebrations
To mark the completion of 100 years, we decided to celebrate the occasion in a grand manner.
An “Alumni Meet” function and a “One Day Educational Seminar” was conducted for teachers in the school premises besides the dance performances of “Lavanya Shankar & her troupe.”
Alumni Meet
The Alumni of the school were invited to the celebration held on 10th September 2006. S.P.Velumani, Member of Legislative Assembly, Perur, K.Damodarasamy Naidu, Founder of Annapoorna and Gowrishankar Group, G.Narayanasamy, the then DEO of Coimbatore and N.K.Rajarajan, the then DEEO of Coimbatore were the Guests of Honour. P.A.Naresh, the then CEO of Coimbatore, was the Chief Guest. G.Rangaswamy, the then Managing Trustee of PSG & Sons Charities presided over the function. The meeting concluded with a traditional dance programme performed by “Lavanya Shankar & her troupe”.
One Day Seminar
A one-day seminar for the school faculty in and around the school on the topic “Enhancement, Enrichment & Empowerment” was conducted in the school premises on 24th January 2007, marking the conclusion of the “Centenary Celebrations.”
G.Rangasamy, the then Managing Trustee of PSG & Sons’ Charities, presided over the function. Dr.R.Nandagopal, Director of PSG IM, lit the lamp. Dr.K.Kulandaivel, Vice-Chancellor of Avinashilingam University, was the Chief Guest.
Many eminent personalities from the education field, such as Jeyalakshmi, Director of Vidhya Vikashini Institutions, Dr.Alagesan, Former Principal, Maruthi Physical Education College, P.Mahendran, and R.Thangapandiyan, Professors of PSG College of Arts & Science, participated and shared their thoughts and ideas on various topics.
Platinum Jubilee Celebrations
PSG Primary School, Vedapatti, came under the “Prestigious banner of PSG & Sons’ Charities” in the year 1943 – 1944. So, the “Platinum Jubilee” was celebrated in 2019 – 2020. The school celebrated the Platinum Jubilee on 13th March 2020 at PSG College of Technology Auditorium. The Managing Trustee L.Gopalakrishnan presided over the function. The School Secretary N.C.Nandagopalan welcomed the gathering. Swami Karishtanandhar, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya, was the Chief Guest and R.Shanmugham, Former President, Odanthurai Panchayat, Karamadai, was the Guest of Honour.
Former Secretaries, Retired Headmasters and Teachers were honoured with Awards in this programme. The “School’s Platinum Jubilee Souvenir” was also released in this celebration. Awards were distributed to pupils, who excelled in their performance.
“Arts and Literary Competitions” were conducted on 15th October 2019 at District Level to mark the occasion of “Platinum Jubilee Celebration.” Mementos were issued to schools that had participated in these competitions. Pupils from 13 Government Schools participated in the competitions.
Founders’ Day
Founders’ day is celebrated on 25th January every year to remember and pay tribute to the Founders and Visionaries of PSG & Sons’ Charities.
PSG Staff Day
Staff day is celebrated on 20th February every year remembering the birthday of Prof. G.R.Damodaran, the first Principal of PSG Arts College and later PSG College of Technology (former Managing Trustee).
Annual Sports Day
“Annual Sports Day” was celebrated on 27th February 2019. Athletic events were conducted for pupils according to their age category. Cultural events were also a part of this celebration. Dr.A.Jeyasudha, Principal, PSG Nursing College was the Chief Guest. The “Overall Championship Trophy” was awarded to the “Pink House”.
75th Annual Day
“75th Annual Day” was celebrated on 06th April 2019. Dr.M.Ramanathan, Principal, PSG College of Pharmacy was the Chief Guest. Retired teachers were honoured and prizes were distributed to pupils for their excellence. Nearly 100 pupils performed various cultural activities.
“Pearl Jubilee”(80th Years) of the school was celebrated on 07th March 2024,at the school premises with full excitement. The programme started with a devotional song sung by our pupils. Mr.R.Nandakumar, Legal Advisor, Committee Member, gave the presidential address, Dr. B. Giriraj, Prinicipal, PSG Polytechnic College was the Chief Guest, Ms.S.Srikala, Block Educational Officer, was the Guest of Honour, Mr. N.C. Nandagopalan, Secretary, PSG Schools gave the special address, Ms. C. Parimala, Headmistress, PSG High School, gave the welcome address and the Annual Report of the school was read out by Mr. K. Ravi, Headmaster, PSG Primary School.
